Work Experience

During the summer term at Highfields all Year 10 pupils undertake a work placement with a local company for a week. This venture has proved to be a positive experience for all involved with pupils experiencing a work environment of their choice.

The programme is an integral part of the school curriculum with pupils being prepared for the experience in class beforehand, visited by staff during the placement and having follow up sessions afterwards.

Highfields School collaborates with employers, colleges, training providers and local link agencies to arrange these placements.

Placement providers have included The National Trust, RNAS Culdrose, Barclays Bank, Mowlem Building Contractors, local schools, garages, electricians, beauty salons, retail outlets, tourist attractions and charities.
