
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities, which is designed to support the personal and social development of young people aged 14-25, regardless of gender, background or ability. It offers an individual challenge and encourages young people to undertake exciting, constructive, challenging and enjoyable activities in their free time.
It is a five-section programme with three progressive levels.The sections involve:
At Highfields, pupils aged 14 onwards have the opportunity to complete the bronze and silver levels of the award. Whilst they are taught how to plan and complete a journey on foot for the expedition section, children are expected to organise the other areas for themselves.
It is a personal challenge which is not only great fun, but can also help to build self-esteem and confidence. As a well-renowned international scheme, it is widely recognised by employers to be a positive accolade on curriculum vitae too!Upcoming events
